The weather might be hitting a bum note, but there are plenty of events to brighten our lives this weekend. From squishmallows to coffee and everything in between, there’s something on for everyone.

Birdhill Coffee Festival takes place all weekend

Saturday 

Mind and Meditation Session

Kilworth Community Centre, Cork, 11am 

Kilworth Community Hall is playing host to a mindfulness and meditation session on Saturday morning. The Art of Living is organising the event, where participants will be encouraged to switch off and relax. This is a free event, but you should reserve your space here.

Smooch Family Fun Day

Páirc Uí Chaiomh, 12pm

Lots of family fun in Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday in aid of Jack and Jill Foundation. There’s a DIY ice cream station, facepainting, arcade games and raffles. There will also be a sensory room for those who need it. Get your tickets here.

Meet a Squishmallow

Brown Thomas, Cork city, 12pm-3pm

Between 12pm and 3pm on Saturday Brown Thomas in Cork city will be transformed into a squish space. Youngsters can meet Patty the Cow of squishmallow fame. Families can even pose for a photo with Patty. The event is free.

Picasso Paint Party

The Wickham, Limerick, 6pm

The Picasso Paint Party is an evening out with a difference. Here, you’ll be shown how to create a Picasso-style portrait. There will be games and spot prizes to be won. The Wickham bar will be open so you enjoy the painting and a few drinks with friends. Tickets are €23 for early bird and €27 for regular tickets.

Sunday 

Vintage Kilo Sale

The Clayton Hotel, Limerick, 10am-3pm

Vintage and pre-loved clothes enthusiasts will have plenty to choose from at the Vintage Kilo Sale in The Clayton Hotel in Limerick. A kilo of clothing will cost just €35 but you can buy as little as you want. Entry tickets are €2.

Children’s Literature Festival

Fota House 10.30am-5pm

There’s a packed programme at the Children’s Literature Festival in Fota House on Sunday. Kids aged 0-12 can enjoy storytelling, fairytale fun and writing workshops, with plenty of things to do for other members of the family too. A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Fota House, 6pm

Enjoy Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream live at Fota House on Sunday evening. Bring the family and a picnic for this lovely performance by Chapterhouse Theatre Company. Book your tickets here.

Birdhill Coffee Festival

The Old Barracks Roastery, Birdhill 

Birdhill will be buzzing this weekend, with a two-day festival devoted to coffee. Over the weekend, attendees can enjoy coffee tastings, a latte masterclass, and a roasting masterclass. Find out all about the festival here, and get your tickets.
