Comedian Tommy Tiernan, TG4 star Hector Ó hEochagáin and radio presenter Laurita Blewitt have made the “difficult decision” to call time on their popular podcast.
was first established during the pandemic with weekly episodes recorded from the hen shed in Tommy Tiernan’s garden.
More recent episodes saw the trio head to pubs in the West of Ireland to taste test pints of Guinness.
However, their busy schedules have made it more difficult for the hosts to find the time to record together.
A statement read: “Tommy, Hector and Laurita have made the difficult decision to close the Henhouse podcast door for good.
“This wonderful podcast started during the pandemic when all three had clear work schedules and although it has been hugely successful and a wonderful experience for all involved, it became tougher to find time to record together allowing for each of their individual careers and schedules.”
Comedian Tommy Tiernan thanked their listeners but gave a special thank you to his co-host “for making me laugh more than anybody else has ever”.
“It was a wild and brilliant trip,” he said. “See ye down ye road for a few morning pints!”
TG4 presenter Hector Ó hEochagáin said he has had some “of the best laughs” on the podcast.
“In tears with giddiness and craic, we have had ups and downs, and stories, loads and loads of stories,” he added.
Mayo woman Laurita Blewitt shared a similar sentiment, describing her co-hosts as two of her “greatest pals” but teased that we may be seeing more from her again soon.
“We have had so many laughs together and [I'm] so glad that we had you alongside us enjoying it as much as we did. From recording in the Hen House to getting creamy pints in so many beautiful old bars across the West it has been nothing but a joy with Tommy and Hector,” she said.
“This may not be the last you hear from me…or from Audrey…watch this space."
