The Six OâClock show is getting a bit of a shake-up with Brian Dowling and Katja Mia set to take over as hosts.Â
The pair have been named as the new presenters of the show after Karen Koster and Greg OâShea both stepped down from their roles.
In a post to Instagram, Virgin Media Televisionâs the Six OâClock Show confirmed that the duo would be taking over, promising that they would bring plenty of âlaughterâ and âbanterâ.
Following the announcement, former Big Brother star Brian Dowling said his weeknights just got âa whole lot more funâ, adding that he was looking forward to working alongside Katja Mia.
Mia has been working on Ireland AM for the past year alongside Elaine Crowley and Martin King. While she will miss her Ireland AM team, the 27-year-old said she is looking forward to the new role.
âIâm looking forward to bringing all the skills Iâve learned over to the Six OâClock Show and bring my whole personality through. This is going to be so much fun,â she said.
Earlier this year on the Ciara Phelan Podcast, the presenter and model â whose parents fled a civil war in Burundi in East Africa â said her family gave her the support to work in the world of entertainment and quit her career in the financial sector.
Following the news of her new role, a number of well-known faces took to the comments to wish Mia well.
"Look at the smile of a woman who just got her weekends and late nights back! Congrats darling," said Ireland AM presenter Muireann O'Connell while Brian Dowling also took the chance to share his excitement. "Darling I canât wait to work with you from next Monday. We are going to have SO MUCH FUN!!! We HAVE THIS," he said.
The changes to the Six OâClock Show come after Karen Koster announced her decision to leave the show in order to spend more time with her family.
The mother-of-three told viewers: "I have had an absolute ball but I am really just saying goodbye because I have to be at home more with my kids."
Meanwhile, her co-host and former Love Island winner and Olympian Greg OâShea also revealed that he would be leaving with Koster.
The Limerick native has previously opened up about his desire to become a TV presenter.
âI think it's the perfect time for the Six OâClock Show to mix things up and try something new. I've learned so much over the last year I've absolutely loved it,â he said.
