Laura Woods has joined her good friend Dáithí Ó Sé on our TV screens while the Kerry man’s co-host Sinead Kennedy prepares to welcome her second child.
Woods is “delighted” to work alongside Ó Sé on the Today Show and despite being friends for over two decades, it is the first time the pair have presented together.
“Twenty years plus of being pals yet we’ve never actually presented together… until today! Delighted to join @daithiose on the @rtetoday couch this afternoon… we’ve a busy show ahead so better go hide the phone now,” she said alongside a photo of the pair in the Today Show studio in Cork.
The mother of two is taking over hosting duties from Ballincollig native Sinead Kennedy who is preparing to welcome her second child with husband Conor Kirwan.
However, the broadcaster's time on screen with Ó Se will not be for long as Maura Derrane is set to take over hosting duties on a full-time basis.
Speaking after her final show before maternity leave, Sinead Kennedy said she will “miss the craic” but wished Derrane all the best “in the real capital”.
Kennedy, who has worked in TV for 20 years, took the chance to look back on her career before heading off to “live another dream”.
“Where does the time go? This is already my 4th season on the show! It’s mad. I love working on it, no day is the same; the guests, regular contributors and viewers are fab and the team are a joy. The old adage is true, do something you love and you never work a day in your life,” she said in a post to Instagram.
“I’ve been working in TV 20 years now, have gained so much experience, and met the most incredible people. I’m very grateful for all of it…but I’m off to live another dream and add to our little family and there simply are no words for how happy and thankful I feel to be able to say that."
The presenter recently revealed that while she will give birth to her baby at home, she and her daughter Indie will travel to Brussels with the new baby in the New Year to be with her husband, who is based there.
