Working Life: Age doesn’t define ability. I have people in their 90s in my classes. They’d surprise you
Lorna O’Regan, nutritionist and wellness coach, Clonakilty, West Cork
“I became a wellness coach by default. I originally studied nutritional science and spent 16 years working as a medical representative. When covid hit, I found myself reassessing things and returning to my roots in nutrition, which led me to train as a wellness coach.
“In the beginning, I visited schools, giving talks and demonstrations, but it naturally evolved in to exercise classes, yoga, and wellness retreats. I quickly realised there was one group being overlooked — older adults. There simply weren’t many options tailored to them. That really struck me during a retreat I ran at the Celtic Ross Hotel in Clonakilty, when two participants couldn’t take part in the yoga. It made me think, ‘Why not create something specifically for this age group?’
