Catherine Connolly became the tenth president of Ireland at a ceremony at Dublin Castle on Tuesday.
Ms Connolly is our third female president and her Irish-designed purple ensemble seems to be a nod to a similar outfit worn by Mary Robinson in 1990 upon her election.
