Editor's choice: The 8 new beauty buys to know about in May
Some of Kate Demolder's beauty-buy tips for May

1. JOICO INNERJOI collection
You’ll have heard of haircare brand JOICO, who puts ‘joi,’ into hair. But its new INNERJOI™ collection claims to put but ‘joi,’ back into the environment, too.
With 100% vegan, naturally derived formulas that deliver professional results while doing good for the planet, the launch features a myriad of ranges set to strengthen, hydrate and preserve hair that’s been through stress.
A good place to start? The Hydrate Detangler (RRP €30).

2. Charlotte Tilbury fragrance launch
Team Tilbury has done the unthinkable and launched a suite of six fragrance products, all tailored to how you feel.
Powered by the science of scent and emotion, the fragrances are named: LOVE FREQUENCY, MAGIC ENERGY, CALM BLISS, MORE SEX, COSMIC POWER and JOYPHORIA. My favourite is MAGIC ENERGY (€150, Brown Thomas) an energy elixir with fresh notes of sweet jasmine.

3. R+Co Chainmail Thermal Protection Styling Spray (RRP €29.90)
Haircare brand R+Co’s latest product offers a two-for-one approach –– styling hold as well as thermal protection.
This means you can create beautiful styles that can be brushed out and re-shaped as needed, with ingredients that provide a silky soft touch.
Sunflower and jojoba oil seals the cuticle, and sweet almond and avocado oil improve manageability and elasticity.

4. Alfaparf Semi di Lino Sunshine
Just in time for summer, Alfaparf’s new range is for dry, sun-exposed hair.
The Semi di Lino Sunshine contains Sun Shield, an active ingredient that protects hair from the negative effects of UV rays and creates a protective film to protect it from the oxidative damage caused by solar radiation.
The range boasts four affordable products: After-Sun Low Shampoo (RRP €15.75), After-Sun Treatment (RRP €15.75), Hair Protective Oil (RRP €19.90) and Hair Protective Milk (RRP €19.90)

5. NUXE Huile Prodigieuse® Or Florale (€28, cloud10beauty.com)
Much like its award-winning, cult-favourite predecessors, this new dry oil by NUXE is packed with seven 100% botanical oils and is scented with grapefruit, orange blossom and magnolia.

6. Dermalogica PowerBright Dark Spot Peel (€91.95, Look Fantastic)
This at-home treatment is a wonder for dark spots, unwanted texture and hyperpigmentation.
Lather a small amount onto the face for up to 15 minutes (preferably before bed, as redness will likely appear for a while; for me, it was two hours) and wake up with a brighter, resurfaced skin tone. Avoid use on broken skin.

7. Lancome UV Expert Supra Screen UV Serum (€47, Brown Thomas)
‘Prevention is the new correction,’ is the motto of Lancome’s latest SPF, a product that combines several filters to offer broad spectrum protection against UVB, UVA and long UVA rays.

8. Rituals Cosmetics, The Ritual of Yozakura collection
Rituals, with its stores around the country, is already a well-loved brand in Ireland. However, many associate their collections with Christmas gifts alone.
Their new range, the Ritual of Yozakura, asks us to consider the tradition of Yozakura –– the ancient Japanese practice of viewing cherry blossoms at night –– all year round.
The collection offers a range of bath, body, and home products, formulated using 90% natural origin ingredients like Yoshino cherry and black rice extract.
Though it spans a myriad of products, such as a divine lotion mousse and summer-friendly shimmering body oil, my personal favourite is the Hair & Body Mist (€21.90, Rituals) which boasts the most gorgeous cherry scent, one so beautiful that I was recently stopped in a café to ask what I was wearing.
Also at under €22, it’s more affordable than almost any fragrance.
