Man arrested following seizure of €100k of suspected cannabis in Limerick City

A man was arrested in relation to the seizure of some €100k worth of suspected cannabis in Limerick City on Saturday.

Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit in Henry Street searched a home as part of an intelligence-led operation.

The man, aged in his 50s, was arrested and detained at a Garda station in Limerick City under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before a sitting  of Limerick District Court on Monday morning. 

The seized drugs will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.

"Investigations are ongoing," a garda spokesperson said.
