Aoife Mullane's Black Roses hairband in action

Accessorise It!

Wicklow designer Aoife Mullane creates beautiful homewares and accessories from her exquisite hand-printed embellished fabrics, which echo nature — particularly the seascape — around her home county.

Lisa Jones, of Element Pictures, recently wore her ‘Black Roses’ hair band to the Oscars, and we are big fans of her beautiful ‘Croissant’ and ‘Cloud’ bags.

Mullane has just announced a pop-up in collaboration with Avoca.

You’ll find her products at the Rathcoole store for the next few weeks, followed by a pop-up at Avoca’s Kilmacanogue store. It’s an ideal opportunity for customers to try on these lovely pieces that are perfect for special occasions or for adding a touch of elegance to the everyday.

Style It!

Discover the new season at Kildare Village with premium past-season designer collections and current-season pieces from over 120 brands, including new additions GANT, Hackett London, Columbia, and K-Way.

Last week saw internationally-acclaimed stylist and fashion editor Tallulah Harlech expertly style a fashion-forward show, highlighting the most exciting pieces available at the village. Harlech recently worked with Irish designer (and former Kildare Village bursary recipient) Michael Stewart, whose Standing Ground designs have been spotted on stars including Beyoncé, Salma Hayek, Florence Pugh, and Naomi Campbell.

Harlech’s styling for the Kildare Village show included everything from beautiful leather jackets to show-stopping gowns, highlighting the range of on-trend and classic pieces available for Spring Summer 2024.

Scoff It!

What could be sweeter than the selection of Easter eggs and chocolates made right here by Lir in Navan, Meath?

This year, the brand’s eggs come in packaging which is 99% plastic free too — which is really something to celebrate.

Try their Milk, Dark, and Blonde Chocolate Marble Egg (303g, €15) or delicious Milk Chocolate Egg with Salted Caramel Truffles (204g, €10).

The brand also makes Baileys Easter eggs (€12.99), and visitors to Dublin’s Dawson St may have spotted the giant Gorilla/Easter Bunny in the window of the 37 Dawson St.

Pop into the bar for complimentary chocolates and a chance to win chocolatey prizes over the Easter break.

Visit It!

Hook Lighthouse in Wexford has been a much-loved family destination for many years and is a great place to visit for people of all ages.

This Easter, the world’s oldest operational lighthouse has plenty lined up to keep the kids occupied. Tomorrow and Easter Monday will see lots of free family events take place at the lighthouse — Pirate Pat and friends will be there for Easter fun and games from 1pm each day, with lots of chocolate doing the rounds.

Enjoy the Easter egg hunt, the Pirate Treasure Quest, some Easter arts and crafts with Rose, the lighthouse’s resident artist, or take in one of the brilliant guided tours on offer.

Hug It!

The ‘Squish Space’ at Brown Thomas, Dublin, is the cutest thing ever and bound to be a huge hit with the kids this Easter. Located on Level 3, the pop-up shop is designed as a playful space that invites children to immerse themselves in huggable fun with beloved soft toys from Jellycat, Squishmallows, and more.

The Squishmallows sofa is the perfect selfie op for tweens, a personalisation service will be available on April 6, and Squishmallows’ Cam the Cat will also be visiting on the afternoon of April 6 and 7. Be warned — there’s no getting out of here without a new cuddly companion in tow!

Trek It!

With longer, brighter days finally here, many of us have the urge to get outside and explore this beautiful country of ours, and what better way to do it than in the new range by Regatta Great Outdoors.

Ireland’s leading outdoor brand has just released a range of performance footwear which includes six core styles to handle any challenge or terrain.

A key addition for 2024 is the new Samaris III — the brand’s most premium walking boot to date. They give great support and traction on the most uneven of terrain and are available for both adults (from €160) and kids (€115). There are now over 20 Regatta stores across Ireland, as well as concessions in Elverys, Shaws, and Paco stores countrywide.

La Bougie Chocolate Candle
La Bougie Chocolate Candle

Light It!

We are huge fans of La Bougie’s perfumes — their Desert Rose is divine and their Coconut Hibiscus just smacks of summer.

We also love their candles and diffusers that are created, by hand, by founder Lucy Hegarty and her team in West Cork. If you can’t get enough of chocolate this Easter, then let the rich scent pervade your home with the delicious chocolate candle, inspired by an unexpected trek through a rainforest in search of a cocoa plantation. Featuring traces of chocolate with warm amber and alluring jasmine, it is a wonderfully evocative scent for Easter and beyond. 50 hours burn time. €30.
