Annmarie O'Connor: 9 things on my spring wishlist

Here are some of our favourite items for spring
Springtime: I love its ‘lighter and brighter’ mantra–sunny-ish skies, that grand stretch in the evening, knowing that salad days are ahead.
It makes me want to fill my wardrobe with midriff tops, shoulder-slung knits and strappy dresses. Sadly, I know better.
Although summer is entering the chat, my needs almost always defer to one common denominator: interchangeable pieces that are reliable, weather-appropriate, and chic.
This year, I’m focusing on mid-weight staples that carry through the seasons: ones that are easy to wear with classic cuts that usurp the buy-and-replenish paradigm.
This can be a big ask, especially when tempted by seductive fashion frippery.
As for my spring wishlist? Expect basics with a twist from Tory Burch’s viral pierced mules to the elegant architecture of Soeur’s multi-wear ‘Winona’ bag.
H&M’s scarf shirt reimagines the button-down with grown-up nous while Whistles’ open-back shirtdress reminds us that the unexpected is very sexy, indeed.
Although cinched trench coats and indigo denim make forever partners, a sprinkling of trend dust with a few well-placed accessories is never a bad idea.
Think adjustable ring belts for that low-slung vibe and vintage sneakers with their distinctive edge.
That’s not to say, I won’t indulge in seasonal whimsy. It just won’t be my main character.
That honour I’ll reserve for a few low-key garments that deliver on cost-per-wear and big fashion energy.
You know the old saying, ‘It’s always the quiet ones’.
