Desire Lines: Mother's Day ideas and cosy knits for babies
Some of what we're loving this weekend

The Royal Irish Academy of Music in collaboration with Dun Laoghaire Institute Of Art Design + Technology are coming to the Project Arts Centre from March 4 to 9 with two fabulous operas — Cendrillon and Postcard from Morocco.
A fun one for opera lovers, Cendrillon brings Pauline Viardot’s version of the Cinderella story to the theatre with some modern twists and unexpected turns, while Postcard from Morocco brings a group of strangers seeking an escape together in an absurdist setting where fantasy and fear are never very far away.
Saturday, March 9 sees a double bill where audiences can get a ticket for both performances for just €32.
- Tickets: Full price: €20.
- Concession: €16.
- Third-level students: €12.

Taylor (sorry!) your jewellery collection with a little influence from the tortured poet herself who was seen rocking US jewellery brand VRAI at the recent Super Bowl with boyfriend Travis Kelce.
The brand is known for its range of sparkling contemporary jewellery which features diamonds from its zero emissions US foundry making it a failsafe celebrity choice.
Swift was spotted wearing the brand’s 14k yellow gold bezel solitaire earrings (€844 per pair) which combine vintage-inspired detail with modern appeal and look great on their own or combined with other mix-and-match pieces.
- Prices in the range start from around €181 and the company also offers a bespoke engagement ring service.

We were delighted to hear that the team organising this year’s St Patrick’s Festival have established a new relaxed space so that more people and their families can enjoy the festivities this year.
Supported by Dublin City Council, the Lord Mayor Daithí de Róiste and Bank of Ireland, the space is designed to support the needs of neurodivergent people and their families as well as those with sensory processing differences.
With around half a million people attending the parade it can simply be a no-go area for those averse to the noise, crowds and unpredictability.
AsIAm and Neurodiversity Ireland have helped to develop the new space which features extra room to allow freedom of movement, additional seating, sensory areas and entertainment before the parade, as well as different anticipated volume zones.
- You can register your interest via the accessibility page at stpatricksfestival.ie or by emailing info@stpatricksfestival.ie.

It’s safe to say that the Cody sisters are a talented bunch. Helen, one of Ireland’s most loved fashion and bridal designers; Catherine, a talented artist and designer; Marion, a brand developer and visual director who has worked with clients including The National Museum, Fáilte Ireland, Design Ireland, Waterford Crystal and Brown Thomas.
Having turned her hand to the development of her own brand, Marney, it’s safe to say that we not only love her range of soft and cuddly knits for babies but also her social media posts for their regular dose of cuteness overload.
Cody has always knitted beautiful knits for new arrivals in her own life but now she is spreading the love with a small community of talented Irish knitters who make her lovely booties, cardigans, hats and blankets to order from luxurious natural yarns.
- Prices start at €50 for a pair of the little booties you see here.

March 2 marks Youth Mental Health Day and the Kerry County Council Arts Office is right on board with a range of brilliant events taking place at Island of Geese in Tralee to help Kerry’s young people (and visitors too) to celebrate art, unlock creativity and promote wellbeing.
Partnering with TU Munster and Music Generation Kerry, Empowering Youth through Art will give young people the opportunity to try out lots of different skills.
The events include a tightwire and circus skills workshop with Galway Community Circus, a street theatre performance from the Spailpins of Fanzini Productions (pictured) and an ‘Unusual Instruments Workshop’ by Music Generation Kerry.
