All proceeds will go to the SVP which does incredible work through homeless projects, education schemes, services for older people and youth services.

The Irish Jewellers and Silversmiths Guild (IJSG) is a new all-Ireland representative body designed to be a united voice for jewellers and silversmiths with the objective of preserving traditional skills and fostering innovation.

The group is hosting an event at the Glucksman in UCC today from 11am featuring heavy hitters including Cork’s own Christopher Samuel, award-winning Cork-based silversmith Annemarie Reinhold, and Kilkenny jeweller James Mary Kelly.

The theme of the seminar is ‘Irish Jewellery and Silversmithing of the past, today and the future’. Attendance is free and open to the public as well as to guild members.

Bluesurfest takes place next weekend in Co Donegal

Bluesurfest — inclusive surf festival comes to Donegal

Bluesurfest — a three-day celebration of inclusion in sport and surf therapy takes place next weekend in Donegal with an action-packed line-up that includes adaptive surfing events, seminars, live music, film premieres and book signings.

The festival aims to raise awareness of the benefits of surf therapy for people’s physical and emotional wellbeing as well as to help break down barriers to inclusion in sport and society through surfing.

The Irish event runs in parallel with events elsewhere in Europe during September and October.

Guest speakers include surfer and author Easkey Britton and motivational speaker and adventurer Mark Pollock.

An inclusive surfing event will take place on Rossnowlagh beach with support from Liquid Therapy volunteers and there’ll be live music in the Kicking Donkey and Bridge Bar in Bundoran.
