What’s your daily skincare and hair-care regime?

In the morning and evening I always cleanse and tone with Lancome Galateis Confort and Tonique Douceur.

I’ve been using this since my skin went through that terrible teens phase.

It’s brilliant and it’s really gentle on your skin. I then use Kiehls oils; in the morning it’s the Daily Reviving Concentrate and in the evening it’s the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. Moisturiser in the morning is Colbert Nutrify and Protect and evening it’s Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream, before adding the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado.

My tresses get much less care, I wash and blowdry every two days, using whatever shampoo/conditioner is in my shower, but I always add the Oil-Infused Leave In Concentrate from Kiehl’s before the heat of the hairdryer.

How has it changed over the years?

I’ve become more focused on skincare and less concerned with makeup.

Whereas a couple of years ago, I would love to buy the latest foundation or a new eyeshadow palette, now I try to ensure that I always have good cleansers, moisturisers and serums.

Also, because I’m taking better care of my skin, I tend to need less makeup.

How do you store your skincare products?

Because I have such a mishmash jumble of products, it can look very messy if they’re left lying around, so a couple of years ago I got a big mirrored cabinet made for my bathroom where I can keep everything out of sight.

I can also convince myself that I’m very tidy and organised by just closing the doors!

What make up do you wear when you’re working?

Day to day I try not to wear too much make up. I always use Lancome La Base Pro as a primer, and Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation. and on top of that some bronzer, which at the moment is Nars Laguna.

I then use the Armani Eye and Brow Maestro to touch up brows and eyes and I’m ready to go.

What do you wear when you’re off?

I go lighter if I’m off for a day, and after moisturising I usually just use some concealer, Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage at the moment, bronze up a little and I’m done for the day.

What’s your ‘going out’ signature look and how quickly can you achieve it?

If the pressure is on (hello husband!), I can do a complete turnaround; shower, hair, makeup, outfit, in about 20 minutes, but I do enjoy the process, so sometimes it’s nice to take your time!

I usually just go for the same look in terms of foundations and powders, but I might add a strong red lip, currently Armani Lip Magnet in Hollywood.

If I’m going neutral lips, I’ll do a smokey eye, the Charlotte Tilbury Dolce Vita palette is a favourite at the minute.

Has your make-up style changed over the years?

I think you can get away with more experimentation when you’re younger, I’m quite safe with what I wear make up-wise now.

That might have a lot to do with feeling more comfortable in your skin as you get older, you don’t feel the need to add as many layers of concealers, foundations and powders.

What’s the best beauty tip you’ve picked up over the years?

For make-up, my mum always encouraged me to go minimal, sometimes if you’re wearing too much, people see your make-up first, and then you.

So definitely, less is more is the best advice for beauty. For skincare, lots of sleep and lots of hydration, and a simple cleanse, tone and moisturiser routine, and you can’t really go too far wrong.

What’s on your dressing table right now?

Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Precious Oil — Completing the trio of oils I use on the daily, this beautiful scent is one of my favourites.

Flowerbomb is a really warm fragrance and I love the hint of rose.

I really love the oil, because it’s more subtle for daytime.

Lancome Cleanser. I’ve been using this for years, it’s a great milky cleanser which smells amazing and is really gentle on your skin.

Colbert Nutrify and Protect Moisturiser: Apparently the creator is the guy who gets the Victoria Secret models ready for their big shows.

I started using this when my skin felt particularly dry, and although I’m not likely to strut down a catwalk in a pair of angel wings anytime soon, it did make a big difference to my skin.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk: I love this foundation, I’ve been using it for years. My mum and lots of my friends use it too, it suits everyone. I have flirted with other foundations in the past, but I just keep coming back to this one.

Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate. This product is really lightweight and absorbent, so it’s a perfect oil for the morning which doesn’t leave your skin shiny all day. It contains ginger root, so it also smells delicious. It’s a great hydrating start to the day.

Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Concentrate: This stuff is amazing! I noticed a difference the first night I used it, and I notice a difference any time I forget to use it.

You just feel like you’re giving your skin the help it needs to replenish and repair while you sleep.

What is your daily skincare and haircare regime?

To be honest it’s very minimalist. It has to be given my lifestyle. I never know where I’m going to be from week to week so products have to fit in one small bag in my carry-on luggage.

The moisturiser I use tends to vary, depending on whatever is at close reach and in a small container so it’s a moveable feast.

I think lifestyle and genetics are two of the most important factors when it comes to the skin but putting on a fresh scented moisturiser always feels good and helps me wake up in the morning.

Work is busy and filming often entails long, late hours so if I’m feeling tired, I’ll generally use an eye cream. I try to exfoliate once a week (leave your exfoliator in the shower as a reminder) and on a rare occasion I use a Tom Ford mud mask.

How do you store your skincare products?

In a bathroom cabinet. And a transparent Kiehls travel bag!

Do you wear any make-up?

Make-up isn’t part of my daily life and I’ll only every wear it for work, television studio lights are unforgiving!

What’s on your dressing table?

Right now my favourites are my Tom Ford shaving oil; a lip balm for travel; Kiehl’s Facial Fuel Moisturiser; Kiehl’s Shaving Lotion; my Tom Ford aftershave and I love the Pomp & C style range for the hair.

What’s your daily skincare and hair-care regime?

I do the basics and with young children around, I need to do the basics fast! I cleanse, tone and moisturise at night and in the morning.

I have used Lancome Galatée Confort gentle facial milk cleanser for as long as I can remember.

Once or twice a week, I use my Zo scrub in the shower on other days I cleanse with water and Lancome toner before using a serum and moisturiser.

I use Kiehls serum morning and night for an extra boost, I’ve been a fan of those products for years.

My mother always used Astral cream when I was young and sometimes, I put lots of it on my face at night as a mask.

A lot of it has to do with recreating cosy memories of my youth and trying to imitate my mother in the hope that my skin will be nearly as good as hers!

I don’t wash my hair every day, but when I do, I use Pureology Shampoo and Conditioner, a blob of whatever mousse I have to hand and then blast my hair upside down. Like I said, it’s all very quick!

How has it changed over the years?

My regime hasn’t changed that much.

I suppose the relevant recent addition is serums, but I have been using them for some time and now it’s as much part of my routine as anything else.

I used to buy cheaper shampoos, but I’ve learnt that when you have colour in your hair, you also need to invest in a fairly decent haircare regime.

How do you store your skincare products?

I keep my skincare products in a cabinet which is mounted high on the wall. I have been the victim of crime-by-child when expensive moisturiser has ended up in a little one’s hair.

What make up do you wear when you’re working?

I wear a mix of everything, but my preference is for Lancome foundation, Teint Miracle, Lancome eye pencils and liquid liner, Mac eyeshadows and whatever lipstick is at hand! The key for my television work is long-lasting makeup with good coverage and limited shine.

What do you wear when you’re off?

There are many days when I am off when I don’t wear any make up at all.

But when I do wear make up on down days, I still wear Lancome foundation and a quick run-in with an eyeshadow palette, mascara and lip gloss does the trick. I always use blusher and bronzer. It makes a huge difference.

What’s your ‘going out’ signature look and how quickly can you achieve it?

I recently learned how to do a ‘smoky eye’ and I was delighted to learn it’s actually quite quick and easy, using a sharp-tipped Kohl pencil and a brush to soften the lines. My make-up always takes no longer than 15 minutes or so.

Has your make-up style changed over the years?

I am probably guilty of not changing my look that much over the years. I am prepared to experiment with colours, but I do tend to gravitate back towards a palette of browns, it is failsafe!

What’s the best beauty tip you’ve picked up over the years?

Eyebrows. Not too much, but a certain amount of definition is so important and makes a huge difference. Also, keeping pencils sharp is a must.

My mother and I went to Monart Spa a number of years ago and we have both been using face scrubs every week as a result of what we learned. It is so worth doing.

What’s on your dressing table right now?

I always have to have Lancome cleanser. I have tried others and nothing comes close.

I have quite dry skin, so I find that it comforts my skin and keeps it happy.

I also love Kiehls serums and am using Kiehls Line Reducing Concentrate lately to help with lines.

After 40, I will take all the help I can get! I have been using the Kiehls Overnight Biological Peel for years, just once or twice a month will do.

Kiehls opens at Debenhams, Patrick St, Cork this weekend
