Trend of the week: The bomber jacket
The unisex style staple has remained constant since its inception as a de facto uniform for WW1 American pilots. 2016 sees an homage to the old school (khaki silk and steadfast leather) juxtaposed with updated incarnations from cinched womanly waists (Versace, anyone?) to quirky embroidery – think exotic birds, flowers and dragons.
The key to making it work? Layering, my friend. Find your favourite and wear it over and over and over again.
Quilted silk layered over a polo neck, high waisted jeans and leather ankle boots.
Blue velvet worn with autumn winter’s Gothic maxi dresses and knee high boots.
Embroidered silk paired with candy colour knits, thigh slit skirts and kitten heels.
Classic silhouette rendered in sheer layered fabrics worn with diaphanous dresses. Pure romance.
