This week on the red carpet: Alicia Vikander, Gemma Chan, Kerry Washington and Olga Kurylenko

Alicia Vikander wore a sparkly Louis Vuitton gown to the British Independent Film Awards in London. 

Her sandals are also LV. This is a very simple slip dress despite the sequins. Make-up and accessories could have made the overall look more special.

Actress Gemma Chan has not been doing red carpet events for long but she definitely knows what suits her. Tailored gowns in bright colours or vibrant prints are fast becoming the Humans star’s signature style. I like the azure blue hue of this Roland Mouret number.

Kerry Washington chose a dramatic Alexander McQueen gown for the 38th Kennedy Center Honors Formal Artists’ Dinner & Gala. With its corseted, feather-trimmed bustier, and short train, this was easily the most glamorous look at the Washington event.

Olga Kurylenko went with an elegant black and white Dior column and Ferragamo sandals for the Marrakech International Film Festival, where she served on the jury. The dress is lovely but her Jorge Fernando drop-earrings with opals and diamonds are the real draw.
