What are you wearing?

Today I’m wearing a tweed coat and skirt which I designed and tailored myself, a vintage blouse (£15 in London), Dunnes Stores tights (€8), Clarks shoes (€70) and a vintage leather bag (bought in France); the ring was a present from my aunt Regina.

Describe your style in three words?

Colourful, tailored, vintage.

How long does it take you to get dressed in the morning?

Around 10 minutes. I usually just pick one item and work the rest of my outfit around it.

Fashion or function — which word best describes your attitude to clothes and why?

Fashion, but I usually go for classic pieces rather than trend-driven items.

What’s your biggest source of style inspiration?

The vintage treasure trove of clothes from my mother and aunts which is a great source of inspiration; also my fashionable friends.

Where do you like to shop?

Since I make a lot of clothes, I am on first-name basis with Maeve in La Modeliste fabric shop in Bandon — the best fabric and customer care around.

Who or what is Ireland’s greatest undiscovered gem?

Two up-and-coming designers to look out for are my friends Hazel Comyn and Catherine Kelly who have their own labels.

Why does your style/outfit work?

My outfit works because it is practical, classic, and no-one else has the same one.
