Keeley Bolger plucks up the courage to tackle some rogue chin hairs with a bendy new device

Tried and tested

“After my toddler niece told me I had a beard, I was very happy to test out the Tweezy, which claims to help rid facial hair with a simple bend of the stick.

“Once you’ve twisted the Tweezy into a u-shape, you place it against your skin and twist the ends to remove the hair. It’s a bit like threading, except the Tweezy traps hairs between the spring coils. “Although effective, it does take a while to get to grips with it, and you’ll probably need to use some tweezers to pluck out any stragglers.

“But, on the whole, it’s easy to use and didn’t sting, or leave red blotches, like waxing or threading can.”

* Tweezy, €13.60, plus postage ( www.tweezy.co.uk ).

’Gift with purchase’ is common in the beauty industry, but Origins’ latest skincare launch comes with its own iPhone app.

Original skin renewal serum, €42 (Boots) is designed for 20-something women looking for an anti-ageing antidote for skin stressed out by hectic lives, and the sister app lets you enhance a ’quarter-life crisis’ selfie with fun illustrations. Free to download and offers the chance to win a bottle of the serum, too ( www.origins.co.uk/quarterlifecrisis ).
