Trend of the week: Simple style solutions

INSPIRATION

It may be January but in fashion terms, we’re officially entering spring/summer 2015. Crazy, right? If the thoughts of flimsy fabrics and bare flesh leave you cold, get on board with some hardy perrenials that’ll give you a canny cost-per-wear ratio well into the warmer months.

STYLE NOTES

THE PARKA

This savvy style staple is experiencing a redux well past the remit of festivals. Wear with skinny jeans and Converse; a floral dress and boots or sling over a party frock like an off-duty model.

BRETON STRIPES

This Gallic go-to is never out of style – ever. The list of adherents is endless: Jane Birken, Alexa Chung, Audrey Hebpurn. Wear it now with black cigarette pants and ballet flats; pencil skirts and heels or high-waisted trousers and penny loafers.

FLAT FOOT

The flat is back; long live the flat! Expect the heel index to crash in 2015 with trainers, sliders and super flats leading the charge. Bunions are so 2014....

HARDWARE

There's nothing like a weighty watch to super charge to a simple outfit. Practical and pretty – we like.
