Street trend: Jo King
Cork
What are you wearing? I’m wearing a coat (€325) and tunic dress (€180) by my own brand Jo.King, a bag (€100) from The Cobbler Leather Shop and Firetrap boots (€69.99).
Tailored, retro, chic.
35-40 minutes.
I tend to mix fashion with function. I prefer a more balanced approach. As a business owner dressing well is important but also because dressing well has the power to make you feel fantastic which influences your entire day.
At present 60s bad girl-meets-40s chic but I would have to say my biggest source of style inspiration was my mother. Her classic style and art of tailoring was impeccable. She had this kind of effortless taste that simply could not be mirrored or bought, only to be admired.
It has come on immensely. The weather dictates a lot, of course. I notice that when the weather gets good, the style stakes are turned up a few notches.
I mostly wear my own label now so I’m not not a big shopper but I do believe very much in supporting Irish and local where we can. Cork has grown into a little style haven which is wonderful, especially on the vintage side of things, you can pick up amazing treats once you have rooted out the hot spots.
Inishturk Island off the coast of Co Mayo to me is Ireland’s greatest gem.
It’s chic, tailored and comfortable. Put simply, if I dress smart; I feel smart which is the perfect way to face a busy day of clients ahead.
