Street trend: Vicki Mooney
I’m wearing a River Island top (€33), Penneys trousers (€10), Principles sling back heels from Debenhams (€35); a New Look neckpiece (€10) and bangle (€8).
Elegant, chic, timeless.
I always have my outfit picked from the day before so it only takes me ten minutes to get dressed; hair and makeup are a totally different kettle of fish!
Function. My clothes and style are the essence of the woman I am and represent my femininity in everything I do. To embody a classy and sophisticated style as a plus size woman — in my everyday wardrobe — empowers the other ladies I’m reaching out to.
I’m a lover of the vintage styles and ladies such as Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren who showcase the original designs by Valentino, Chanel, Versace. These women knew their bodies and their designers knew how to accentuate them.
The high street from River Island to New Look; although boutiques like www.ChemicalAfflictions.ie and Devilish Designs in Cork stock the most enchanting retro dresses which I’m a huge fan of. As a plus size woman I do find it more difficult to shop for my shape but with more and more retailers realising that 42% of the Irish female population are a size 14 and upwards, this is changing for the better.
I’m a huge fan of Maria Lola Roche. Her understanding of a woman’s body and how a dress can make a lady is beyond what we’ve seen in many years.
I’d like to believe it’s because it’s me. My style represents the woman I am today, in that moment and how confident I am to represent all plus size ladies in Ireland.
