Trend of the week: Susan Reeves design

Dublin-based designer Susan Reeves has just launched a brand new collection of girl’s skirts under her eponymous label Susan Reeves Design. A graduate of The Grafton Academy, co-founder of Smock boutique and creative force behind the Jacob Tu Tu brand, Susan’s industry nous is a guarantee of something truly special.

The 9-piece capsule collection aimed at girls aged 4-10 years old is crafted with premium limited edition fabrics but designed for wearability. Wonderfully nostalgic yet fashion forward, playful details such as pom poms and ric rac offset punchy prints and vibrant colours. These are clothes made to be worn and truly loved.

“I think children should look like children,” affirms Reeves. “I want my clothes to inspire delight - both in the child and the parent buying the piece.”

Reeves’ clean design gives the skirts a timeless and trans-seasonal quality – think woolly tights in the winter and sandals in summer. The sizing is generous allowing for growth spurts and wiggle room (two cheers!) with an elasticated back waistband for maximum comfort. Each piece should get at least two years before they are handed down to lucky younger sisters
