Take the catwalk home on a budget

THE style circus of Autumn/Winter 14 Fashion Month is officially in full swing, stopping off at New York, London, Milan and Paris.
But there are a couple of problems with the decadent designer pieces showcased on the catwalks. First, you can’t snap them up until autumn, and second, you can’t buy them even then unless you have thousands of euro to spare.
Luckily, the beauty world has equally covetable designer trinkets that won’t cause bankruptcy. And if anyone asks who it’s by, you can justifiably say: “It’s designer, darling...”
Make an impression with a Fashion Week pout, literally. Dior Addict Lipstick comes in 44 shades but for topicality, plump for 881 Fashion Week pink, €33.
Ease the load in your handbag by carrying your scent around your neck in a pretty designer pendant. Marc Jacobs’ Honey Solid Perfume is hidden away in a statement gold flower necklace, €43.
If you like being the first to jump on trends, paint your talons with Nails Inc’s Emerging British Designer collaboration.
Nail polishes come in signature print packaging including Teatum Jones’ Sloane Street hot pink, Emma Shipley’s Colville Mews nude and David Longshaw’s Hallam Street dusky purple, €14.40 each.
Pleats are big news for this season. Issey Miyake champions the trend via perfume with Pleats Please; the fragrance features a pleated bottle top. Pleats Please EDT, from €45, and brand new Pleats Please L’Eau, available next month.
Adorn your wrist with fragrance and jewellery, with Thierry Mugler’s Angel Jewel Collection. The limited edition set includes Angel 25ml eau de parfum and an elegant cuff bearing the Thierry Mugler signature, €68.50.
If you want to upgrade from designer, indulge in couture-like nails. YSL’s new La Laque Couture Spicy collection includes six exotic new shades, including a decadent gold fleck Feuille D’Or, €24.
Add a designer muse to your dressing table with Jean Paul Gaultier’s Classique Eau De Parfum, €79. The lacy corset embellishment hints at something naughty but oh so stylish.
Nudes are big news in the beauty stakes year. But there is no need to go all demure with your look. Step it out with YSL’s Rouge Pur Couture Vernis a Levres Rebel Nudes in Fuchsia Tomboy, €33. A lippy worthy of your best clutch bag.
Tick off three spring trends in one with Balenciaga’s Rosabotanica — statement print, bold blooms and monochrome stripes. This bottle has designer written all over it, from €67.30.
Stand out in a crowd with this head-turning lippy, right, Jasmine Rouge Lip Color Fatal, €46, by Tom Ford. Its luxury black and gold case will help you make a bold fashion statement every time you whip it out of your favourite handbag.
Match your fragrance to your spring outfit with Miss Dior Blooming Bouquet, €69. This is the perfect accessory to your fashion-forward wardrobe.
Like a cheerful companion, this blush will keep you smiling all day long. An appealing dome of pink blush delivers a creamy, delicate colour and glides on like a dream. You can build up intensity by layering it on. But we opted for a light, healthy glow, which stayed put until the sun went down.
Also, the metallic top doubles up as a mini-mirror, ideal for a quick check and touch-up, at the desk, during the day.
Available in three shades.
Perk up you mood and look with this fashion-forward nail varnish. Teal is one of the hottest colours this spring and this soft mint shade works a treat on pale fingers. It glides on easily and dries in less than a minute. For best results, apply two coats of varnish, but if you want a more translucent look, then one flick of the brush is needed.
