LENNON COURTNEY

Guaranteed Irish

LENNON COURTNEY isn’t just a fashion label; it’s a statement of intent. Developed by two of Ireland’s leading style ambassadors – Sonya Lennon and Brendan Courtney – the line of luxurious wardrobe staples has been a sell-out success with Irish women buying into its mantra of stylish practicality.

Annmarie O’Connor catches up with one half of the Dublin based design duo to find out what’s new for autumn/winter 13.

AUTUMN/WINTER 13

‘The Weekend’ collection is a day to night wardrobe solution comprising core basics and star pieces. Ten new dresses set the tone in navy and black with cameos of red and purple.

On trend references like wool and leather sit alongside hardworking techno-stretch fabric and entrance-making organza with simplicity its unifying thread.

THE DRESS

“Our big story is the dress,” says Courtney. “The Tube and The Bell were so successful last season; we’re going to run it again in a slightly different fabric.”

Expect The Tube in two collared versions: The Hero Dress as worn by judge Sharon Corr on The Voice; and The V Collar Dress as sent to HRH Kate Middleton. Watch this space ...

THE LENNON COURTNEY WOMAN

“She’s a busy working mum, like Sonya, who likes fashion but doesn’t want to be a slave to trends,” Courtney maintains. Irish celebrity fans like Sharon Corr, Kathryn Thomas and Amy Huberman have all worn the label but who would else who the duo like to dress?

“Our dream would be Kate Moss for vanity, Kate Middleton for commerciality, Michelle Obama for globalisation and Tilda Swinton because we adore her.”

WARDROBE ESSENTIALS

Looking to invest in a piece of Lennon Courtney?

Take Brendan’s advice: “The Fitted Tube dress was the biggest selling piece from last season and The Black Pencil Skirt sold out. Our strongest pre –orders for autumn/winter 13 include The Leather Bell, The Silk Organza Dress and The Hero Dress.”
