Chanel gets Superstitious

Gabrielle Chanel’s Rue Cambon apartment is home to just some of the luck charms (bronze and alabaster lions, sheaves of wheat...) that inspired Chanel’s autumn beauty collection. Chanel Superstition boasts surreally-bright cream blushes, candy-pink lip sheers and magical metallics or mysterious greens and greys for the eyes. Khaki-bronze volumising mascara, €33, Mysterious, a gun-metal grey nail colour, €22.50, and Hasard, a lavender eye shimmer, €27.50, are among the most bewitching items.

Chanel Superstition is available from August 16.

Nuxe Nirvanesque

Nuxe delivers with this day and night cream, created to significantly reduce early wrinkles and fine lines in length and number. Dry, normal and combination skin varieties are available. The sweet-smelling formula contains blue lotus and poppy seeds and the anti-inflammatory calmosensine, all of which alleviate tension, preventing the onset of expression lines. Amaranth and rose muscat oils leave skin super-soft. Best results appear after a month of use. For an intense effect, generously apply the cream to expression lines for 5-10 minutes. Nirvanesque Eye Contour tackles fine lines and wrinkles in the under-eye area, while working to eradicate dark circles.

No stress with Kiehl’s

Stress is noticeably bad for skin, causing inflammation and breakouts. Worse still, it damages the skins moisture-barrier over time. Help is at hand in the form of Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer, €35. This calming daily hydrator fights long-term stress implications for the skin, including dullness and uneven tone. Formulated with anti-inflammatory Rosa Gallica extract and Mannose, a strengthening natural sugar, the cream helps to fortify the skin’s barrier function, so stress won’t show on your face. For enhanced wellbeing, let it manifest in a rant at your slovenly flatmate instead.

DreamTone by Lancôme

Lancôme DreamTone works to improve skin texture, correct hyperpigmentation and boost radiance.

Researchers discovered that excess melanin production and melanocytes (the cells responsible for its production) in the epidermis aren’t the sole causes of age spots and shifted focus to the dermis. They found that the activity of the cells within this layer (called fibroblasts) was a more significant catalyst than previously believed. Excess pigmentation can take years to develop, so the serum won’t clear it in a day. . Full results take at least two months of use. However, Lancôme’s seven years of research (incorporating 100,000 women, 19 countries and 64 different skintones) found the effects to be long-lasting. The Duchess of Cambridge was this week confirmed as one of the first women in the world to try the pigmentation corrector.

Yes, this Estée Lauder bottle looks familiar but it’s actually version 2.0 of their best-selling night serum. Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II has been reformulated and tested on 1,000 women of various ages and races. Glamglow BrightMud, €51, gets eyes ready for a close-up in three minutes. This rejuvenating treatment is from the brand behind Hollywood’s favourite mud mask. The tap-on, wipe-off formula tackles puffiness, dark circles, fine lines and dryness. The mud is designed for pre-camera preparation and contains peppermint leaf, caffeine, bioactive nutrients and detoxifying betonites. Keep the pack in the fridge for extra zing.

Sì, Sì, Signor Armani!

Sì is a warm and wonderful new fragrance by Giorgio Armani. The art deco bottle contains a luxurious cocktail of cassis, chypre, musky wood, rose, freesia, vanilla and orcanox. The idea behind the name is that a woman should say yes to the best in life (love, strength, dreams and freedom), while the scent makes her impossible to turn down.

Giorgio Armani Sì, €55 for 30ml, is available at Brown Thomas from August 7, on counters nationwide from August 21.
