Hollywood comes to Dublin

With celebrity fans including Saoirse Ronan and Patricia Field, Annmarie O’Connor says Dublin illustrator Holly Shortall is the one to watch!

Hollywood comes to Dublin

THE GIRL

Holly Shortall is one of the new wave of fashion illustrators that are fast becoming part of the industry elite. You may recognise the Dubliner from TV3’s reality show Style Wars. Despite having only come third place, she has quickly come to the attention of Ireland’s style set with personal commissions of her illustrations for bloggers, stylists, designers and some very familiar faces...

THE FANS

Holly isn’t short on celebrity followers. Sex and the City stylist Patricia Field retweeted her sketch of Sarah Jessica Parker; with a 30k strong Victoria Beckham twitter fan site commissioning her for work. She’s also done personal sketches for designer Joanne Hynes, singer Imelda May and most recently Saoirse Ronan who said, “It’s amazing! I was hoping she’d draw me.”

THE BIG PLAN

The 24-year old takes personal and business commissions (blogs, websites, business cards, logos, gifts) but she also has some exciting collaborations in the pipeline including illustrating a beauty book. Her big plan? “To produce a range of luxury Smartphone and tablet cases featuring personalised illustrations,” she reveals. “I’d also love to include cosmetic bags, notepads and greeting cards too, a kind of “What do you get for the girl who has everything?’ range.”
