Trend of the week: Golf fashion
Striking tee to green involves as much swing as style. Just ask Ralph Lauren or Calvin Klein, both of whom sponsored 2013’s LPGA tournaments. Looking lovely on the links needn’t leave your bank balance under par though. Try Dunnes Stores and Irish e-boutique Kartel (www.kartel.ie) for savvy separates in which to polish your putt; or footwear specialists ECCO whose golf shoes are fast becoming the toast of the 19th hole.
* Keep cool on the green and opt for breathable fabrics with moisture-wicking technology like Nike Dry-FIT, Adidas’s ClimaCool and Lycra.
* Teed off with skirts? Opt for a ‘skort’ – a fairway-friendly skirt/short hybrid. Range of motion is crucial to the game.
* Instead of wearing a restrictive jacket; layer a gilet over a base layer top and collarpopped polo. Pretty and practical.
* Propriety rules on the golf course. Avoid any fashion faux pas by ensuring clothing is clean and neat. Shirts must be collared and tucked in; while skirts and shorts should be long enough in which to bend over and sit down comfortably.
