Jenny Packham’s designs always strike me as “date clothes”, as though she hopes to catalyse her ready-to-wear fans’ (who include Blake Lively and the Duchess of Cambridge) transition into customers for her bridal collection. Laura Mercier did the make-up for the English designer’s recent show and the look was boy-friendly and perfect for attending a spring wedding.

The catwalk collection was inspired by the elite intellectual salons of 17th century Paris.
