Moschino’s spring/summer 2013 collection was inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s doll-like look in ’60s rom-com Two for the Road.

To complement the fashion, models wore glassy orange lips, strong brows and lots of lashes. “This is the ’60s meets Lana del Rey,” said Tom Pecheux, who created the double-lash look using MAC products.

“The make-up for the Moschino SS13 collection was very fun, bright and vibrant,” says Cher Webb, a senior make-up artist on the Milan show. Here are Cher’s tips on how to perfect the groovy look.

Base: Begin by prepping the skin with moisturiser. Try MAC select moisture-cover, €18.50, for an even base, and apply a lip conditioner. Then, smooth on MAC studio sculpt foundation, €36.50, with a large, flat foundation brush. Buff MAC studio finish concealer, €18.50, across the under-eye area, and over any blemishes, with a pointed concealer brush. Blot the t-zone to finish.

Eyes: Apply MAC fascinating eye kohl, €17.50, over the top lash-line and under the bottom lash-line and waterline. The line was wrapped around the eye and shaped into a soft point at the inner corners. MAC eyeshadow in gesso, €15.50, was then pressed in and blended over the white eye pencil with a tapered eye-shader brush.

Double-lashes: Curl lashes well and sweep on lashings of MAC haute and naughty mascara in black, €23.50, to the top and bottom lashes. MAC false lashes, €13, in #35, were applied to the top, and in #33 to the bottom lash-line, to create a wide-eyed doll effect.

Brows: Eyebrows were groomed and shaped to look fuller and bolder, using MAC luxe brow powder pencil, €20, in a deep-brown shade called ‘spiked’. MAC fluid-line gel-creme in deep dark brown, €17.50, was drawn straight through the brows for accentuation.

Lips: To finish the look, apply generous coats of MAC morange lipstick, €18, with a flat, rounded lip- brush and then slick on MAC clear lipglass, €16, to create a super-wet look. Bella.

BEAUTY SCHOOL: YOUR QUESTIONS ANSWERED

Q: I’m thinking about investing in micro-ring extensions for spring. Will I need to buy special products to maintain them?

A: Tatiana Karelina, who lengthens the locks of Cheryl Cole and F1 heiress Tamara Ecclestone, says no special products are required to maintain micro-ring extensions, save for the soft brush any salon specialising in extensions should offer. To protect the extension bonds, she recommends you use a shampoo for normal hair, such as Aveda’s Rosemary Mint Shampoo, €14.90, right. Conditioners and treatments should be applied only through the lengths to avoid product build-up around the bonds. I like Moroccan Oil’s Hydrating Mask Light, €38.99, which pampers long hair without weighing it down.

Q: I love this season’s trend for bouffant up dos but my hair is so fine! How can I get the look without backcombing it into a bird’s nest?

A: “When it comes to this season’s 60s-inspired shapes, the difference is in the details,” says Guido Palau, who created the voluminous twists at Dolce and Gabbana’s Spring show. To get the look, apply a lightweight, thickening product like Redken Aerate 08 All-Over Bodifying Cream-Mousse, €21.30, from roots to tips. Blow-dry the hair straight back with a round brush, without making a parting. “Twist up and pin at the crown, but don’t stress about making it perfect,” says Guido, who left the ends slightly messy. For extra flair, tie a silk scarf around your hair, headband-style.

Q: The cold weather really makes my cheeks red and I’m tired of covering the blotches with heavy make-up. How can I treat them?

A: A recent survey by Eau Thermale Avène found 1 in 6 Irish women suffers from rosacea, or couperosis, an inflammatory skin condition which can often flare up in winter. Symptoms include swelling, spots, permanent flushing, visible blood vessels and increased sensitivity. To compliment any treatment your doctor might recommend, try Eau Thermale Avène’s Antirougeurs Jour Redness-Relief Moisturizing Protecting Cream, €22, right. This contains soothing thermal spring water and Ruscus Aculeatus extract, which accelerates the blood flow and constricts the facial capillaries, helping to reduce redness.

Chantecaille’s Magnolia, Jasmine and Lily Healing Emulsion, €128, is particularly beneficial for sufferers with mature skin. Apart from anti-inflammatory, moisturising and redness-reducing ingredients, the emulsion contains firming evening primrose oil, elasticity-enhancing jasmine flower and Cellusoothe TCM, a blend of three herbs to prevent dehydration and pre-mature aging.

Q: I’m a total nail art junkie but my nails are quite small and short. How can I get creative while without opting for gel or Shellac nails first?

A: Nails Inc. have a very trend-conscious design team and I love the new Bling It On Leather & Skulls polish sets, €24, by the London-based brand. These come with glue and four metallic and crystal deadhead charms. The charms can be applied to polished nails with a tweezers and held for 60 seconds to set. They can be reused and fit neatly on small nails. The polish has a cool, leather-like texture and the overall effect is very Alexander McQueen! Available in Noho (black polish with silver charms) and Soho Mews (gold charms with tan polish).
