TREND OF THE WEEK: SLIPPERS
This year’s biggest shoe craze – the slipper.
Ever since designer Henry Holland stared sporting Christian Louboutin’s smoking slippers, the fashion world took note.
The embroidered crest and kooky studs made the critical crossover into the mainstream with girls clamouring for an alternative to the ubiquitous ballet flat.
Now the day-slipper looks set to stay, overtaking its arch nemesis – the stiletto – as Net-a-Porter’s best-selling shoe. Oh, and Alexa Chung is wearing them.
Looks like they’re here to stay.
* Team with roll-up ripped jeans by day or printed silk trousers by night.
* A studded pair adds visual interest to a chambray shirt and leather shorts.
* In the office, do dress-drown Fridays with a silk shirt, cashmere cardi and A-line skirt.
* Textured finishes like Nubuck, calf hair, sequins and velvet give a luxe finish to any look.
