Miley Cyrus to take up role on 'The Voice'

Miley Cyrus is set to join 'The Voice'.

The 'Wrecking Ball' hitmaker has signed up to be a coach on the hit television show and will follow in the footsteps of Gwen Stefani, Shakira and Christina Aguilera.

Taking to Instagram, she shared the news: "It's true! I am going to be the newest judge on Season 11 of The Voice @nbcthevoice #thevoice

"Watch me mentor and then season 11 s**t is gonna go offffff! I can't wait! (sic)

The news of her appointment comes just days after it was confirmed she would be taking on a key advisor role and helping all four groups of contestants during season 10.

But Miley won't take up her full-time role on the show until next season alongside current stars Adam Levine and Blake Shelton.

It has also been reported that Alicia Keys will be filling in the fourth seat in place of Pharrell Williams.

After Miley publicly tweeted the news of her appointment, the 'Happy' hitmaker congratulated the star, writing: "Congrats sis! Welcome to the @NBCTheVoice family (sic)"
