In a week that has many people feeling like an emotional wreck, John Lewis chose to add to the rollercoaster of feels by releasing their annual tear-jerking Christmas ad - but this time it was a little different.

In a departure from their usual heartbreaking adverts like the Man on the Moon or everyone's favourite Monty The Penguin, the department store seemed to choose a more uplifting, heartwarming story for this years.

The reaction was mixed to say the least.

Many people loved it.

Others were a little disappointed.

Some thought it was just what 2016 needed.
