Electric Picnic FAQ: Getting there, campsite opening times, facilities, line-up, weather and more
Electric Picnic will take place in Stradbally from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August.
More than 80,000 festival-goers are expected to descend on Stradbally Hall in Laois this weekend for the 23rd installment of Electric Picnic.
Ireland’s largest gathering of music and arts will return to Stradbally from Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30, with a selection of music, art, theatre, comedy, food, and holistic health.
Here's everything you need to know about getting there, on-site facilities, campsite opening times, and this year's line-up.
Electric Picnic 2025 takes place this Friday, August 28, to Sunday, August 30, at Stradbally Hall in Stradbally, Co Laois. Campsites open at 2pm on Thursday, August 27 for Early Entry ticketholders.
Highlights of this year’s festival include headliners Fontaines DC, Gorillaz, and Lewis Capaldi, as well as CMAT, Amble, The Mary Wallopers, and Zara Larsson. Acts will take to stages across the site over the weekend, including the Main Stage presented by 3, Electric Arena, Rankin’s Wood and Red Bull X Terminus.
All tickets for Electric Picnic are sold out. Tickets for the 2025 event went on sale in September last year and sold out within hours.
From Cork, all motorists except for buses should exit the M8 motorway at Junction 3 (Manor Stone) and turn right onto the R433 to Abbeyleix. In Abbeyleix, turn left onto the N77, continue through Abbeyleix and turn right onto the R425/Ballyroan Road. Continue to follow the R425 towards Cashel Cross. From Cashel Cross, traffic will follow the main road to the right onto the R427. Continue on the R427 to Money Cross. At Money Cross, motorists will be directed straight on the R427 and from here will follow directions to car parks.
If you’re coming from Dublin, you should exit the M7 motorway at Junction 16 (Ballydavis interchange) and take the R445 towards Portlaoise, and take a left turn onto the R425. All motorists (except buses) continue straight at Bloomfield roundabout on the R425 to Sheffield, Lamberton Junction and Money Cross. At Money Cross, turn left and follow directions to the car parks.
Ditch Google Maps. Organisers have advised attendees to follow event signage and directions from gardaí when travelling to the festival site.
A number of bus companies will operate return services to and from the festival site.
Travel Master is operating return services from Cork to Electric Picnic. Cork city pick-up: Patrick’s Quay (West Cork Connect bus stop), plus additional stops in Bishopstown, West Cork, and Fermoy.
TravelMaster operates coach services to Electric Picnic from locations including Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford and Clare. Pickup locations include Cork City, Macroom, Mallow, Killarney, Tralee, Limerick City, Cashel, Clonmel, Waterford City, Dungarvan and Ennis, along with many other towns throughout the province.
Marathon Coaches are operating hourly services from North Wall Quay.
TravelMaster provides Electric Picnic coach services from locations throughout Connacht, including counties Galway, Mayo, Roscommon, Sligo and Leitrim. Pickup points include Galway, Tuam, Ballinasloe, Castlebar, Westport, Ballina, Sligo, Carrick-on-Shannon and a range of additional locations across the region.
TravelMaster operates Electric Picnic coach services from locations across Ulster, including counties Donegal and Cavan. Pickup locations include Donegal Town, Ballyshannon, Killybegs, Glenties and Cavan Town.
If you are travelling by rail, shuttle buses are operating from both Portlaoise and Portarlington stations that will take you directly to the festival site.

Car parks at Electric Picnic are free and will be open for early entry ticket holders from 2pm on Thursday, August 27, and for general ticket holders from 9am on Friday, August 28 until 4pm on Monday, August 31.
The pickup/drop-off facility is located just off the N80 on the Portlaoise (North) side of Stradbally. Pedestrian access into site is via the PUDO gate.
- Take Junction 16 off the M7
- Follow event signage to Bloomfield Roundabout
- At Bloomfield roundabout, turn onto the N80
- Follow event signage along the N80 and right into the PUDO area.
Weekend campsites will open at 9am on Friday, August 28 for weekend ticket holders only. The family will also open at 9am on Friday.
All bars, food and non-food traders will be cashless. So, be sure to have your card on you or set up Apple Pay on your phone.
Will there be food and drink?
As always, there will be plenty of food and drink options across the festival site.
Game-changing female urinals are all lined up and in place at Stradbally for the first time this year. The ‘squat and go’ facilities are designed to be three times faster to use than conventional portable toilets. The individual units provide coverage from the waist down, while their open-air, touch-free design means users do not need to touch doors, locks or toilet seats.
Boots will have its first-ever pop-up festival store on-site at Stradbally this weekend. Forget your toothpaste or hair care? People can shop all their favourite essentials as well as beauty bits for touch-ups between sets. Located at the main arena, the Boots pop-up shop will be open all weekend.
There will be AIR (Assistance, Information, and Response) hubs located across the campsites and the arena throughout the weekend. Local community groups and charities, such as Vision Ireland, SOSAD Ireland, Portarlington Women’s Shed, Portlaoise AFC, Laois Cricket Club, will run the hubs with the support of existing safeguarding and welfare partners at the festival.
Yes, lockers and storage boxes will be available all weekend at the Jimi Hendrix campsite. It is recommended that you book your storage locker in advance.
Yes, phone-charging facilities are available on-site. Three Charging will be providing vending machines for power bank rentals in the Late Night Arena, Jimi Hendrix Campsite and the Samuel Beckett Campsite. The vending machines will also be available at several AIR Hubs across the campsites, but, as ever, it’s a good idea to bring your own fully charged power bank.
Lost and Found is located at the Jimi Hendrix Arena Entrance and will be available throughout the show.

Every year, there is a long list of prohibited items for Electric Picnic. Among the items that are not permitted onto the festival grounds are disposable vapes (refillable vapes are permitted), drones or any remote flying devices, fireworks, flares and blow torches, sky lanterns and kites, megaphones, gas canisters or cylinders, spray cans, and skateboards, scooters, hoverboards or any personal motorised vehicles.
Bringing your own alcohol is allowed at the campsite (not the arena) and is limited to 48 cans per person. Glass bottles are also not allowed, so remember to decant any spirits into a plastic bottle. Glass items under 100ml — such as a perfume bottle or makeup — are allowed.

There are free drinking water points throughout the campsites and arena, and you can find these next to the toilet blocks.
At the time of writing, Met Éireann has forecast a bright day for most of Friday, with sunny spells and scattered showers and highest temperatures of 18 to 23 degrees. BUt pack the wellies, because on Saturday, the weather will turn. Saturday morning is set to be wet, with rain continuing into the afternoon. It will gradually clear eastwards through the afternoon with drier and brighter weather following. Sunday will bring outbreaks of rain, turning heavy at times with a chance of thunderstorms and highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees.
