Fontaines DC manager and well-known entertainment manager in Dublin, Trevor Dietz, has passed away.

Dietz, who was instrumental in the band’s rise to fame and who acted as entertainment manager at The Garage Bar and clubnight booker and promoter at The Workman’s Club, passed away on Sunday.

Dietz initially promoted Fontaines DC at the Workman’s Club, playing a significant role in shaping the band's early career and helping them achieve their goals.

Band members Grian Chatten, Carlos O'Connell, Conor Curley, Conor Deegan, and Tom Coll paid tribute to Dietz, who they described as the sixth member of the band, on Tuesday.

Posting a heartfelt message on social media, thanking him for his contribution to their story and success, they wrote: “Trevor Dietz. We are utterly heartbroken to let you know that on Sunday June 7th we lost our dear friend and manager Trevor.

“Trevor was beside us from the beginning of our journey as a band, we have never known Fontaines D.C. without him, the sixth member of the band.

“He cared passionately for us and for what was fair and right in the wider world. He was fearless in his beliefs. We will miss him always.

“We ask that you kindly respect our privacy and that of his family at this terribly difficult time. RIP Trev.”

Dietz was also a strong voice and activist for human rights within the entertainment industry, advocating in recent years for the rights of Palestinians and, closer to home, supporting homeless charities.

In December 2024, Fontaines DC teamed up with Dublin’s Bohemians FC to launch a new football shirt for Palestine aid. The band’s logo was embossed on the front of the Irish club’s 2025 third alternative jersey in a design that raised funds for Medical Aid For Palestinians (MAP).

In 2020, Fontaines DC took part in a charity Rock Against Homelessness gig at the Olympia, which raised more than €70,000 for Focus Ireland.

At the time, Dietz said he, along with the band members, was delighted to help in raising vital money for Focus Ireland and their incredible work.

The news of Dietz’s death sparked a flood of condolences from those in the music industry, including from Belfast rap group Kneecap, who commented: “Suaimhneas síoraí Trev” under the band’s post.

DJ Annie McManus also shared her condolences, writing: “Sending all my love to you lads and to Trevor’s loved ones”.

Also paying tribute, punk rock group Lambrini Girls wrote: “Rest in peace, Trev. He went above and beyond for everyone and championed so many DIY bands, the impact he had is beyond measure. Lost for words. Sending our love and condolences to all of you.”

Aisling Bea, Niall Byrne, Nick Grimshaw, and Jack Saunders also paid tribute online.
