Dancing with the Stars recap: Jordan Dargan misses out on dream of final after close dance-off

Four contestants are one step closer to lifting the glitterball trophy, with Jordan Dargan missing out on a place in next week’s final.
Despite receiving a solid score of 77 for their combined semi-final dances, Dargan and his partner, Rebecca Scott, missed out on a spot in the final and the chance to win the glitterball.
“I’m not going to stand here and pretend we’re not gutted. You know, we were so close, and I wanted it so, so bad. I’ve had the time of my life,” Dargan said following the judge's vote.
This week, each couple had an individual dance inspired by a genre, song, or theme from a specific decade over the last hundred years.
After each couple performed their individual dance, they danced for a second time in a Time Machine Trio, where they were joined on the floor by a second professional dancer. Both routines were scored out of 40.

The contestants to make it straight through to the final on Sunday’s show were Eric Roberts and Arianna Favaro, Katelyn Cummins and Leonardo Lini, and Paudie Moloney and Laura Nolan. Tolü Makay and Maciej Zieba earned their place in the final after facing Jordan Dargan and Rebecca Scott in the final dance-off of the season.
After receiving the lowest score from the judges last week, star Paudie Moloney and partner Laura Nolan opened the show and took it all the way back to the 1930s for a Fred and Ginger-inspired American Smooth to by Matthew Morrison and Jane Lynch, which earned him his highest score of the season.

With a total score of 26 from the judges, Moloney was commended by the judges for his “smooth, joyful” performance, which opened the semi-final.
Brian Redmond commented on Moloney’s suave and sophisticated look and described his dancing as “also quite suave and sophisticated”.
Moloney and Nolan went back to the 2010s for their second dance, with a Samba to Psy’s K-Pop hit alongside trio partner Robert Rowiński. They received a score of 24 for their second dance.

star Jordan Dargan and his partner Rebecca Scott were the second couple to take to the dancefloor on Sunday, bringing rave to the show with a 1990s-inspired Cha-cha-cha to by Livin’ Joy, receiving a total score of 38 from the judges.
“I know your dream is to be in the final, so I hope your dream comes through,” Arthur Gourounlian said.
For their second dance, Dargan and Scott were joined by James Cutler for a 1960s Charleston to the Beatles’ hit They received a score of 39 for the dance.
Rose of Tralee Katelyn Cummins and partner Leonardo Lini also secured a place in the final with a century-old Charleston from the 1920s to by Bob Wilson & His Varsity Rhythm Boys. They received a perfect score of 40, which earned them a rare standing ovation from Brian Redmond and praise for “the dance of the season” from Oti Mabuse.

For their second dance, Cummins and Lini took on a Samba to Beyoncé’s iconic alongside pro dancer Alex Vladimirov, which earned them a score of 38.
Tolü Makay and Maciej Zieba came back this week with a Paso Doble inspired by the 1980s and Guns ’n’ Roses' which earned them a score of 36.
Karen Byrne commented on Makay’s “strength”, usage of the floor, and flexibility in her spine, calling her a “powerhouse”.

The couple also time-travelled to the 1950s for their second dance, a Jive to by Little Richard, where they teamed up with pro dancer Stephen Vincent and earned themselves a score of 35.
The final couple to take to the floor were presenter Eric Roberts and Arianna Favaro, who went disco with a 1970s-inspired Salsa to by Earth, Wind & Fire. Roberts received high praise from the judges for his lifts, receiving a score of 39.

They teamed up with Kylee Vincent for their second dance, taking a trip back to the 1940s for a Quickstep to by The Puppini Sisters, which earned them a score of 40.
