Cork film fans will get a chance to indulge their love of foreign and arthouse movies with a new project from the city’s film festival and the Arc Cinema. CIFF Selects Cine Club will see Cork International Film Festival curating a monthly series of films at the North Main Street venue.
Beginning next Wednesday, February 25, and then taking place on the last Wednesday of each month, the films will get a background introduction from one of the festival’s programmers, and attendees will have an option to stay back after the 6pm screening to discuss what they’ve seen.
The first film for the new cine club is the highly-rated Spanish tale set around a rave in the Moroccan desert. Oliver Laxe’s film had a screening at last year’s Cork International Film Festival, and also won the Jury Prize at Cannes in 2025.

“CIFF Selects @ GATE Screen gives us the perfect year-round platform to share standout titles and new discoveries in an intimate, dedicated arthouse setting,” said CIFF director Fiona Clark.
The second title in the initial five-film series is North Macedonian movie (March 25), with other announcements due in the coming weeks. Films will be shown in Screen 6 of the Arc, with its comfy seating and individual tables.
Bookings can be made for the films via the film festival website and app: corkfilmfest.org
