'The hardest part has been the guilt': Lisa McHugh shares health update from hospital
Lisa McHugh: "This is at least the 6th time in the last 18 months I've had to suddenly disappear for days, sometimes weeks, without being able to explain anything to Milo. That part breaks my heart more than anything."
Irish country music singer Lisa McHugh has shared an update on her health after cancelling her first live show in months following another health setback.
Last year, the singer-songwriter shared that she had been diagnosed with a neurological disorder, which caused her to lose function in her legs.
She learned last summer that she has Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) after what she said was “an incredibly scary” and “very difficult" few weeks spent in the hospital.
She described at the time how she was unable to lift her legs and shared with fans the story of what led to her diagnosis of the incurable disorder.
McHugh, who had been looking forward to what was to be her first live show since her diagnosis, announced last week that she could no longer perform.Â
The 37-year-old shared a statement on Instagram confirming that she would not be performing at the Clanree Hotel in Letterkenny with fellow country star Nathan Carter.
On Sunday, McHugh shared an update on her health with her followers on Instagram.
“Just a quick update. My body is finally responding well to the treatment - infection markers are coming down each day and I'm really hoping to be home soon.
“It's been a tough week health-wise, but the hardest part of all has been the guilt. This is at least the 6th time in the last 18 months I've had to suddenly disappear for days, sometimes weeks, without being able to explain anything to Milo. That part breaks my heart more than anything.
“Please keep my little babies at home in your prayers too. Thank you for all the love, messages and support as always — it truly means so much. And roll on March 1st... my new year is starting then.”Â
McHugh’s post was met with many messages of support and well-wishes from friends and followers.
“Speedy recovery, Lisa. Stay strong and you’ll soon be back home with your week sweeties,” one follower wrote.
“Mum guilt is always the hardest part. You will be home giving your babies big hugs again before you know it,” another wrote.
