Strike star Tom Burke and Bad Sisters’ Eve Hewson are set to lead an upcoming film from the director of Normal People, Lenny Abrahamson.

The new drama from the Oscar-nominated director, which is currently untitled, tells the story of a 12-year-old boy living in Dublin's Jewish community in the late 1970s.

Filming for the new drama, which is set in Dublin, is due to begin in early March, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Producers of the film are Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures and Catherine Magee of Normal People and Small Things Like These, alongside Lenny Abrahamson.

Abrahamson will reunite for the movie with collaborators from his successful Element Pictures TV series Normal People and Conversations With Friends, such as production designer Anna Rackard, director of photography Suzie Lavelle, editor Nathan Nugent, make-up designer Sonia Dolan, and composer Stephen Rennicks.

Also reported to be on board for the project are costume designer Eimer nĂ­ Mhaoldomhnaigh of The Banshees of Inisherin and hair stylist Orla Carroll, also of The Banshees of Inisherin.

Tom Burke last appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s Black Bag and is also known for his roles in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, The Souvenir, and the TV series Strike.

Eve Hewson’s recent credits include the film Flora and Son, as well as TV series The Perfect Couple and Bad Sisters. She also stars in Steven Spielberg’s Disclosure Day, which will be released in June.

The new film is funded by Film4, High Frequency Entertainment, Screen Ireland and RTÉ.
