Cillian Murphy fans delighted to see Cork actor at Oscars to present Best Actor award

Cillian Murphy fans were thrilled to see the Cork actor at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday as he presented one of the most anticipated awards of the night.
The actor, who won his first-ever Oscar in 2024 for Best Actor for his role as Robert Oppenheimer in Nolan’s eponymous film, appeared on stage to announce the winner of this year’s Best Actor award at the ceremony in LA.

People initially thought Murphy was not in attendance as he was not among the celebs and notable actors on the red carpet ahead of the annual awards ceremony, but all eyes were on Murphy later in the night as he presented the Best Actor in a Leading Role gong to his co-star Adrien Brody, who won the award for his role in
Murphy and Brody are well-acquainted as they starred alongside each other in when Murphy played Tommy Shelby and Brody played Luca Changretta.

Fans took to social media to describe the Cork actor as “iconic” after pictures of him donning a Saint Laurent suit at the awards were posted by YSL on Threads.
For many, Murphy is the actor of a generation and is considered one of the greatest Irish actors of all time - and not without reason.

Winning his first-ever Oscar for Best Actor in 2024 for his leading role in was the cherry on the cake for the actor, who also won a Screen Actors Guild Awards for the same role, as well as earning a nomination for Best Actor at the Critics’ Choice Awards.
