The script for The Last Showgirl almost didn’t get to Pamela Anderson. But it’s a good thing it did, having garnered her some impressive award season plaudits, among them a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award (SAG) nominations.

Fate stepped in for the Canadian-American actress and model as she was in her garden on Vancouver Island one day, and her son Brandon Thomas Lee, 28, put it in front of her, after being tracked down by American film director and screenwriter Gia Coppola, 38, who just also happens to be the granddaughter of acclaimed director Francis Ford Coppola.
