Angelina Jolie plays the title role of Maria Callas, a world-renowned opera singer who now, in Paris in 1977, hides in an apartment, having lost her voice and retreated from the world. 

Maria is directed by Pablo Larrain, responsible for the vivid Jackie (2016), and while Jolie didn't claim a Golden Globe last weekend, her performance is stunning.

Streaming: Severance 

Apple TV+, Friday, January 10 

It’s been almost three years since the first season of this, er, workplace/dystopian drama and the second instalment of Severance is already getting rave reviews by those who've had an early glimpse.

Released weekly, the opening episode is directed by Ben Stiller and finds Mark (Adam Scott) in an even weirder place than we left him.
