Gary Moloney: Cork comic-book writer draws on Irish heritage and Tolkien

Gary Moloney, writer of When the Blood Has Dried

When The Blood Has Dried is a comic book with an international dimension, courtesy of it being published by burgeoning American independent comics publisher Mad Cave Studios and illustrated by Chilean artist Daniel Romero, but its source is resolutely Irish. Its world may be recognisably Tolkienian, but, set in the sleepy hamlet of Carraig an Bhun, the story features characters who feel very Irish.

Cork writer Gary Moloney has written short comics scripts in a variety of genres, but his first published longform piece comes from a reawakening of his love for high fantasy.
