Five For Your Radar: Tommy Tiernan is back on TV, Nosferatu is in cinemas...
The Tommy Tiernan Show S9

We don’t have to wait long for the first big TV show of the year as the five-episode limited-series Lockerbie arrives in full this weekend. Tracing 36 years since 270 people were killed after Pan Am Flight 103 exploded over Lockerbie, Scotland, Colin Firth leads the cast in this all-star series depicting the tragedy and one man’s mission to find answers.

Spanning two weekends, Ones to Watch returns to Whelan’s with some 100 acts across two weekends, not quite easing you into 2025 but throwing you in at the deep end. Day tickets are only €6, with the likes of Ahmed, With Love; Annie-Dog; The Fae; and Pastiche among the names we’ll be looking out for.
Robert Eggers is perhaps an acquired taste for some movie-goers, but it’s an exciting, singular collection he has built (The Witch, The Lighthouse, The Northman). This time, he turns his eye towards horror and Nosferatu: It’s a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her.

Local guitar band the Kates comprise Eve Clague, Liz Clark, Mary Beth O’Mahony, Míde Houlihan, and Paula K O’Brien, all making a name for themselves in their own right and demanding acclaim when they come together. They released their debut EP Pictures Here of Dreams in September and return to their spiritual home of De Barra’s to set a marker for the year ahead.
The ninth series of the chat show, whose unique selling point, in case you didn’t know already, is that host Tommy Tiernan doesn’t know who the next guest is, returns to our TV screens on Saturday. The conversations are usually revealing and riveting, and the music is always great too.
