Fontaines DC receive two Grammy nominations as Beyoncé dominates list

Dublin band Fontaines DC

Irish band Fontaines DC have received two nominations at the 2025 Grammys, alongside huge names such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé and even The Beatles.

The 67th edition of the most prestigious music awards will be held in early February and on Friday, the organisers released the list of nominees.

Fontaines DC have received a nomination in the Best Rock Album category for Romance, which was released in August. The Dublin group will go up against The Rolling Stones, Green Day, Pearl Jam, Jack White, Idles and The Black Crowes.

They received a second nomination in the Best Alternative Music Performance category, this time competing against Cage the Elephant, Kim Gordon, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds and St. Vincent.

Huge stars such as Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Charlie XCX, Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter have all been nominated in the Album of Year category — alongside André 3000 and Jacob Collier — as well as the Record of the Year category — alongside Kendrick Lamar.

The Beatles have also been nominated for their song 'Now and Then', which was released early last year and was called their last ever record.

Written by John Lennon as a home demo in the 1970s, the 2023 release saw the musical talents of the fab four come together one last time. The music video for the song featured old clips of the bandmates, and even present-day footage of Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr edited in with footage of their late bandmates, Lennon and George Harrison.
