Coldplay have released the music video for their new song We Pray, which was filmed in Dublin during the run of the band’s Croke Park shows.
Word began to spread that Coldplay would be busking on Grafton Street by the afternoon of Wednesday, August 28, with crowds flocking to the area to try get a glimpse at the band.
The rumours were true and Chris Martin soon appeared in the huge crowd alongside collaborators Burna Boy, Little Simz, Elyanna and Tini.
The performance was recorded for the music video for their new song We Pray, taken from Coldplay’s new album, Moon Music, which will be released on Friday, October 4.
Dropping the video on Thursday, Coldplay said: “Filmed on 28 August, 2024 at Grafton Street, Dublin. Thanks to everyone who showed up, and to TikTok for helping to make it happen."
The video sets the scene on Grafton Street, showing the group move through a sea of people with their phones out and cheering, before taking their spot at the top of the iconic street and starting the performance.
Some fans were delighted with the up close and personal show, though not realising it was for a music video, while others complained the sound was poor as they were too far away.
Coldplay played four sold-out concerts in Croke Park last month as part of their Music of the Spheres World Tour, with thousands of fans left disappointed to have missed out.
The show has received five-star reviews across the board, including from this newspaper.
