Aodán Ó Ceallaigh is a primary school teacher who lives in Dublin but who is originally from An Rinn in Waterford.
He goes on this journey back in time to trace the history of his surname and to find out about others with the same surname.
Along the way, he traces the name in the Old Irish Manuscripts and from there learns that the name comes from an old Kingdom which no longer exists.
He visits the region to find out more and meets with people who tell him stories about others with the same surname such as actress Grace Kelly and singer Luke Kelly.
The lead detectives may come and go — although as the 13th series begins, Ralf Little's DI Neville Parker is now officially the longest-serving — but Commissioner Selwyn Patterson (Don Warrington) has been with the sun-kissed crime drama since day-one.
So, it's only fitting that he's at the heart of the show's 100th episode.
Selwyn is celebrating 50 years of service, but sadly the anniversary party takes a shocking turn when he's targeted by a mystery assassin and left fighting for his life. #
