Rod Stewart: ‘I thought the old songwriting lark had left me, but in hindsight I just got a bit lazy’

Rock and roll veteran Rod Stewart has just finished a string of dates at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, playing to 4,000 adoring fans each night.

“It was just wonderful,” he recalls. “When we completed the first show, all the girls in the band cried their eyes out. All their make-up was running. It was just so emotional to get out there and do it again.”
