After years of gestation, Cork composer John O’Brien’s adaptation of Oscar Wilde’s story is ready for its world premiere, writes Cathy Desmond.

MUSIC critic Declan Townsend, in his review for this paper described John O’Brien’s opera, The Nightingale and the Rose as “magically inventive” at the first performance of a concert version of the work which played to a sold out house at the Everyman, Cork, in September 2016.
