'We're talking about Mayo?' - Michael D Higgins on whether 'football is coming home'

Michael D Higgins has brushed off the question of whether football is coming home.

England play Croatia in the World Cup semi-finals in Russia at 7pm this evening.

With hysteria surrounding the England team, President Higgins was asked if football is coming home, and he predicted a new era for Mayo football.

He said: "Which football are you asking about?

"We're talking about Mayo I think. Go n-éirí libh!"

He was talking as two of England's royal family posed for photos with Mr and Mrs Higgins during their official visit to the Aras.

When Prince Harry was asked the same question by a reporter, he replied: "Most definitely."
