Mix-up leaves 350 potential jurors calling sex-line

Hundreds of south-eastern Mississippi citizens were left confused and possibly aroused after being instructed to call a sex hotline on a jury summons.

Some 350 jury summons were sent out with the wrong phone number on them.

Instead of getting through to the local court services in Jackson County the potential jurors were put through to a sex line.

Circuit Clerk Randy Carney said people started calling the circuit clerk’s office to report the problem.

An apology letter will be sent to those who received the erroneous summons.

It is reported that the Clerk has said he is not sure if his office will be liable for the cost incurred by the potential jurors using the line.

Mr Clancy also said he would be personally reviewing summons before they are mailed, from now on.

Probably a good idea.
