Washington Post applauds Waterford Whispers' take on THAT doctored photo
Here in Ireland, we’ve long appreciated the Waterford Whispers News’ on-point satire and, now, their genius is being recognised across the pond too.
Yesterday, after a conservative Israeli newspaper photoshopped out all the female leaders from a front-page photo of Sunday’s Paris march, the satirical website published this excellent response showing what it would look like if all the men had been removed instead, leaving just Angela Merkel, EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo in the shot:

The story has been picked up by the Washington Post who featured the edited photo on their site, saying:
“Like much of the best satire, there's a sad element of truth behind it”.
Amen to that.
As Adam Taylor of the Washington Post points out, the Inter-Parliamentary Union last year reported that women made up just 21.8% of national legislators around the world - while just nine out of 152 heads of state (5.9%) were women.
